Stuart Chambers

From producing field-defining research at Memorial Sloan Kettering to building the Stem Cell Center of Excellence at Amgen, Stuart Chambers has spent over two decades at the absolute frontier of human pluripotent stem cell biology. He brings a deep fluency in the biological principles that underpin cell therapy and the rigorous process of translating bench science into clinical therapeutics.

Stuart's career is built on bridging the gap between foundational academia and industry application. After first-authoring landmark stem cell methodologies that became globally adopted, he moved into the commercial sector. He served as the founding stem cell scientist at Neurona Therapeutics before spending nearly six years at Amgen. There he established foundational intellectual property and pioneered the application of image-based machine learning to cellular culture at an industrial scale.

Today, Stuart is the founder of Brightfield Therapeutics, a company building at the intersection of stem cell biology and AI-driven discovery. Now based in New Zealand, he also holds dual roles as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Otago and an Entrepreneur in Residence at Otago Innovation, where he evaluates university IP and mentors early-stage therapeutic spinouts.
